NECK INJURIES

NEW YORK CITY NECK INJURY ATTORNEY

NEW YORK CITY NECK INJURY ATTORNEY

Neck injuries are one of the most common injuries from traffic accidents, and the symptoms are not always present right away.  That’s why you need an experienced New York City neck injury attorney to represent you.  After a car, bus, truck, or bicycle accident, it’s a good idea to check to see if your neck has a full range of motion. Gently moved your down and around in a circle and notice if there is any pain with this movement.  Our necks are less protected than other parts of the body, and what might feel like a slight twinge initially could be a herniated disc, a torn ligament or even a slight fracture. This is all the more reason you should seriously consider taking an ambulance to the hospital directly from the scene of an accident.

It’s also a good idea to call an expert New York City Neck Injury Attorney to find out what you might need to do right away to preserve your rights.  At Wittenstein & Wittenstein, we’ve been holding client’s hands through their cases for over 60 years. Let us work on the legal aspects of your situation, while you focus on returning to full health.  Please call us for a free consultation at 718-261-8114.

Strains and Sprains (Whiplash)

Whiplash is the lay term for mild traumatic injuries to the neck.  Sensitive tendons, muscles, and ligaments work together in your neck.   A strain of the neck is when the muscle or tendon is suddenly contracted or stretched.  A sprain is when the ligaments are stretched or torn. It is very difficult to diagnose a neck problem with any certainty without Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) films.  With an MRI, a doctor can determine the extent of your neck problem and recommend the best treatment.

Herniated Disc

The neck (cervical spine) is made up of discs with a hard shell and a soft gel filled interior.  This works to absorb force and protects the spine. When the gel inside the disc protrudes, due to trauma or degeneration, this is known as a herniated disc.  Symptoms include a shooting pain that radiates down the arms, numbness or tingling and muscle weakness.

A herniated disc is usually diagnosed with an MRI and clinical testing of reflexes, range of motion and pain level.  Treatment is usually a combination of physical therapy, chiropractic treatment, pain relievers and muscle relaxants. Rarely, surgery is necessary to relieve the pain.

These are the most common types of traumatic neck injuries from traffic accidents.  If you have sustained an injury to your neck, you should seek medical treatment and consider suing the negligent party for compensation.  Please call Wittenstein & Wittenstein for a free consultation at 718-261-8114

LIABILITY COVERAGE VS. FULL COVERAGE FOR PROPERTY DAMAGE

LIABILITY COVERAGE VS. FULL COVERAGE FOR PROPERTY DAMAGE So after 5 long years you finally finished paying off your car. You are therefore no longer obliged to continue having full coverage (collision insurance) for your vehicle. While this may be the case, it may still be worth it to keep your full coverage intact in the event that you sustain property damage. Before deciding to remove full coverage from your auto policy, there are a couple of things to consider. LIABILITY COVERAGE VS FULL COVERAGE (COLLISION INSURANCE) To start off, let’s be clear. Liability Coverage is something else entirely different than full coverage. Liability Insurance covers damages to people or property you may have hurt during [...]

The Importance of Personal Service

There are a plethora of billboards from attorneys promising that they are the biggest firm in town. This reminds of me the sign next to the golden arches that announces that billions of people have been served. Does this mean that they make the best burgers? No, it just means that they are providing service to many people and that’s not possible unless what they are offering is pretty watered down product. I like my burgers thick, rare, hot off the grill and eaten on a real plate - something that’s not possible to mass produce. When you’re seeking a lawyer, you’re looking for somebody that can bring your case to life, not a fleeting association [...]

Art Movements, Protest Lineage, and Why This Work Exists

Political art has never been ornamental. At its best, it has functioned as logistics, memory, and coordination — a parallel system of communication when official systems fail or turn hostile. From the hand-printed posters of the U.S. Civil Rights era, to anti-apartheid graphics in South Africa, to the silk-screened iconography of May ’68 in Paris, visual language has repeatedly done three things movements require:signal alignment, create cohesion, and make resistance visible at scale. In the 1950s and 1960s, civil rights organizers did not treat posters, buttons, and printed materials as accessories. They were how people recognized one another. How messages traveled when mass media refused to carry them. How collective identity took shape across neighborhoods [...]

Art Builds Communities

Art does not arrive fully formed. It is built—collectively, physically, in shared space. Before it appears on a street or in a march, it appears in conversation, in planning sessions, in rooms where people cut, paint, argue, revise, and keep going. This process is not secondary to the work. It is the work. Community is strengthened not only by what art represents, but by how it is made. An art build gathers people who might not otherwise meet. It gives them a common task, a shared visual language, and a reason to stay in the room together long enough for trust to form. The result is more than objects. It is continuity. In preparation for [...]

Is Your Right to Vote Disappearing?

Is Your Right to Vote Disappearing? wittenstein.com  has been a little over 50 years since President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Voting Right Act of 1965 into law.  Passed during the Civil Rights era, it sought to remove barriers meant to keep African Americans from voting on election day. These barriers included literacy tests, poll taxes, and intimidation by law enforcement officials.  By the end of 1965 a quarter million more African Americans were registered to vote. Since the initial passing, it has been amended a couple of times under various administrations to include other minority groups. With the tidal wave of Conservatism, these laws are being undermined and turned back, corroding the Voting Right Act’s [...]

What Damages can be Recovered for Personal Injury Claims?

Most people know that they can collect money for “pain and suffering” from parties that accidentally or intentionally harm them, but wonder if there are other types of compensation that can be collected.  This will help you get the big picture about the structure of personal injury claims, so that when you consult with your Brooklyn car accident attorney or NYC Construction accident attorney, you will be able to ask great questions. Future Medical Costs For most car accidents, first-party “no-fault” benefits will cover $50,000 in medical bills, lost earnings and out-of-pocket expenses.  This fund will usually be sufficient to cover current medical costs, but some types of injuries can cause problems much later in life.   [...]
