NEW YORK CITY NECK INJURY ATTORNEY

NEW YORK CITY NECK INJURY ATTORNEY

Neck injuries are one of the most common injuries from traffic accidents, and the symptoms are not always present right away.  That’s why you need an experienced New York City neck injury attorney to represent you.  After a car, bus, truck, or bicycle accident, it’s a good idea to check to see if your neck has a full range of motion. Gently moved your down and around in a circle and notice if there is any pain with this movement.  Our necks are less protected than other parts of the body, and what might feel like a slight twinge initially could be a herniated disc, a torn ligament or even a slight fracture. This is all the more reason you should seriously consider taking an ambulance to the hospital directly from the scene of an accident.

It’s also a good idea to call an expert New York City Neck Injury Attorney to find out what you might need to do right away to preserve your rights.  At Wittenstein & Wittenstein, we’ve been holding client’s hands through their cases for over 60 years. Let us work on the legal aspects of your situation, while you focus on returning to full health.  Please call us for a free consultation at 718-261-8114.

Strains and Sprains (Whiplash)

Whiplash is the lay term for mild traumatic injuries to the neck.  Sensitive tendons, muscles, and ligaments work together in your neck.   A strain of the neck is when the muscle or tendon is suddenly contracted or stretched.  A sprain is when the ligaments are stretched or torn. It is very difficult to diagnose a neck problem with any certainty without Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) films.  With an MRI, a doctor can determine the extent of your neck problem and recommend the best treatment.

Herniated Disc

The neck (cervical spine) is made up of discs with a hard shell and a soft gel filled interior.  This works to absorb force and protects the spine. When the gel inside the disc protrudes, due to trauma or degeneration, this is known as a herniated disc.  Symptoms include a shooting pain that radiates down the arms, numbness or tingling and muscle weakness.

A herniated disc is usually diagnosed with an MRI and clinical testing of reflexes, range of motion and pain level.  Treatment is usually a combination of physical therapy, chiropractic treatment, pain relievers and muscle relaxants. Rarely, surgery is necessary to relieve the pain.

These are the most common types of traumatic neck injuries from traffic accidents.  If you have sustained an injury to your neck, you should seek medical treatment and consider suing the negligent party for compensation.  Please call Wittenstein & Wittenstein for a free consultation at 718-261-8114

Religious Freedom

The founders of the United States and the drafters of our Constitutional considered freedom of religion to be of great importance.  That’s why the First Amendment to the Constitution prohibits infringement on the right to worship as you choose. We’re all aware that freedom of speech does not include the right to panic people by falsely screaming “Fire” in a crowded theater, and similar limits apply to all rights.  We should be grateful to live in a country that allows us the freedom to practice the religion of our choice. Regarding religion, the First Amendment states: “Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”   The first half of [...]

Catastrophic Injuries Require A Prompt Legal Response

When an accident causes severe or catastrophic injuries, it’s important to take action immediately to preserve your claim. When defendants know that somebody is going to require a large amount of compensation, they are likely to try to destroy evidence and fabricate in an attempt to protect their financial interests. This is why it’s important to contact an experienced New York City catastrophic injury attorney  as soon as possible after any accident or incident that causes serious permanent injuries. Call Wittenstein & Wittenstein at 718-261-8114 for a free consultation. You don’t have to pay until we win. What Are High Crimes and Misdemeanors

High crimes and misdemeanors is the Constitutional standard the Congress must use to decide whether or not to impeach and remove a sitting President. It’s always been difficult to understand Constitutional law because it’s written in old-fashioned language and is often intentionally vague. That’s why my teaching assistant review sessions, for the late great civil rights lawyer Haywood Burns, attracted hundreds of students and packed the auditorium at CUNY Law School. It was hard enough to understand these concepts back in the 1990’s, but now we live in the age of “fake news” and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to know who to believe. The discussions we see on TV and read in the paper are usually [...]

Art Builds Communities

Art does not arrive fully formed. It is built—collectively, physically, in shared space. Before it appears on a street or in a march, it appears in conversation, in planning sessions, in rooms where people cut, paint, argue, revise, and keep going. This process is not secondary to the work. It is the work. Community is strengthened not only by what art represents, but by how it is made. An art build gathers people who might not otherwise meet. It gives them a common task, a shared visual language, and a reason to stay in the room together long enough for trust to form. The result is more than objects. It is continuity. In preparation for [...]

Who is Responsible for Self-Driving Car Accidents in NYC?

Yes, Waymo is currently testing up to eight driverless vehicles in parts of Manhattan and downtown Brooklyn, having received permits from the NYC Department of Transportation and the State DMV in August 2025. This is a limited pilot program, and these vehicles are operating with a trained safety specialist behind the wheel. There is no public, paid driverless taxi service available to New Yorkers yet, as this is a preliminary testing phase. That said, driverless vehicles will soon be driving around Queens, so it’s important to understand the legal aspects of this rollout. This article provides some guidelines, but it’s always important to speak to an experienced Queens car accident attorney as soon as possible [...]

The Accident Was Minor. The Injury Was Not. Why Low-Impact Car Crashes Still Cause Serious Harm

People tend to describe car accidents using the language of property damage. The car wasn’t totaled. The bumper barely dented. The airbags didn’t deploy. Everyone walked away. And yet, weeks later, the pain arrives. This disconnect—between what a crash looked like and what it did—is one of the most common and most misunderstood issues in New York car accident cases. It is also one of the most aggressively exploited by insurance companies. In Queens, where traffic is dense, speeds are inconsistent, and collisions often occur in close quarters, many crashes fall into the category insurers like to call “minor impact.” The phrase sounds scientific. It isn’t. It’s a financial label, not a medical one. Vehicle Damage [...]
